Peter Jackson...You Da Man! |
Sunday, December 18, 2005 |
Finally! Another PJ film! I've been suffering from LOTR syndication for way too long. So I've been waiting for Kong 2005 ever since I heard that Jackson was set to direct it. Never mind that it was a dreaded remake. But come on! This is Peter Jackson! Plus he's got WETA to back him. This film had to be a winner!
And I was right! The movie was nothing short of amazing. I won't give away the plot but if you've seen the older version of Kingkong then you'd probably know how the story goes. Anyway, what Kong lacked in the simplicity of the story line, it made up for in special effects. BEAUTIFUL! Really, WETA has once again outdone themselves.
And I have got to say, Peter Jackson is an extremely good director. I mean, for once, I didn't find Jack Black as annoying and overacting as usual. He was actually good and, well, serious in this film. Plus, you could see a HUMAN Andy Serkis in this one. For those of you who aren't familiar with Serkis, he was the voice and movement behind Gollum in LOTR.
It gets a little Jurassic Park-y somewhere in the middle but everybody already knew that from the trailer. Oh and old Kong fans definitely won't be disappointed. Watch out for a newer version of the infamous "Kong climbing the Empire State Building" scene. Hey, it just wouldn't be King Kong without that.
All in all, the movie was just spectacular! From start to finish. The true mark of a Pete Jackson film. Just watch the movie and see for yourselves!
