Decision, decisions...
Sunday, September 18, 2005

Man! It is tough being a grown up! I tell yah, if I had a choice, I would be a kid forever.

As a kid the hardest decision you would have to make was what toy you should play with for the day or what cartoon show you should watch (still a tough decision I have to make daily when I'm choosing between a Nickelodeon or Disney show).

Then came college... the time to decide which course to take that would help mold and shape you into the kind of person you have to be to get that dream job that you will be doing for the rest of your working lives.

And what do I pick? Industrial Psychology!

Stupid course! Industrial Psychology?! What is that?! Its not even definite! It is, in my opinion, probably the safest course there is to choose for people who don't know what they want to do with their lives! For example, ME!

I chose my course because I didn't know what I wanted, thinking that maybe later on I would know what I finally wanted and decide to shift to another course and focus on something else, something other than my course. One year turned to four years of indecisiveness and I ended up graduating with a degree in Industrial Psychology. And apparently I was good at it because they even gave me a "with distinction" medal, a medal for not knowing exactly what I want to do with my life. Nice.

Why couldn't colleges and universities just stick to the basics?! Education if you wanted to be a teacher, Medicine if you wanted to be a doctor, Law if you wanted to be a lawyer... There! They should just stick to those 3 choices so no matter what we choose among those 3 we still have great professions!

Why must they complicate life with stupid, useless, highfaluting course names when everyone who graduates with degrees from these so-called courses, ends up working for a call center?!

Oh well, can't turn back time now can we?!

And now comes the workplace, where every single thing that you decide, every move that you make could either make you or break you.

Right now a lot of the decisions I have to make involves the question "Should I stay or should I go?"

"Should I stay in the nightshift forever (lesser calls, more vcds to watch, lesser calls, less stress, no uniform, lesser calls... and did I mention lesser calls) or should I go back to the dayshift and transfer to a different team (more knowledge which would make me more bankable, I get to see my friends again, I get to see the sun again)?"

"Should I stay in my current job and die a measly CSO or should I go out into the world again and risk all the security and compensation that I already have to apply for a different more appealing job that I would be much more satisfied and happy with?"

"Should I stay and be satisfied w/ being just an employee or should I go back to school to take up most probably a journalism course (my dream course) and move on to bigger and better things?"

Aaaarrrrggghhh! Head exploding! Veins popping!

Sigh… Don't mind me. This is just me rambling on about the current contents of my brain. I'll sort this out somehow.

Later.

GRAVEYARD SHIFT: The busiest shift of them all...(part 2)
Thursday, September 08, 2005

Alrighty then! Due to my lack of blog posts these past 2 weeks and since I have the most be-A-yoo-tiful phone in the whole entire world (props to Mako!) and I just can't stop taking pics of everything & anything under the sun (or rather moon, don't really get to see the sun that much), I have decided to enlighten you, my loyal and gorgeous spectators, about the goings-on during the BUSIEST (really!) shift ever...THE GRAVEYARD SHIFT. BUSY I TELL YOU!!! And here is more proof...

culprits: busy call center reps hard at work, posing for camera phone

culprit mits' attempt at posing for future mugshots

a well-respected senior call center officer's attempt at taking a picture (obviously he failed)

masterpiece 1: movie still from The Village movie about a man doing a scary scarecrow-like pose

masterpiece 2:movie still of a horrible yoda pose

masterpiece 3:yet another movie still of a horrible yoda pose (my apologies to star wars fans. what?! yoda looks funny!

and my most magnificent masterpiece to date: pooping dog (I realize that this has nothing to do w/ my office or the GY shift but this was too good to pass up. Besides where else can I post this picture?!

that's all folks! hope you enjoyed the show!

Gilmore Girls: the most underrated show ever

Okay! I kinda went crazy with the dvd's last payday. Teehee. I got 3! And when I say 3, i don't just mean 3 measly dvd's. I got 3 box-sets of the Gilmore Girls 1st to 3rd season. Plus I'll be getting the 4th & 5th season via vcd next week. Help me! I'm out of control!

But its all worth it. I am now addicted to Gilmore Girls! Must remember to add that in my list of "Current Addictions & Related Sites."

I just simply love the show. Why? A number of reasons actually. Hard to pinpoint just one. But to name a few...

>>the mother-daughter relationship between Lorelai & Emily (the awkward, non-sharing, non-close kind of bond) - I can so relate!
>>mother-daughter relationship between Lorelai & Rory (the bestfriends kind of bond) - I want this relationship w/ my kid if ever
>>Lorelai's lovelife - just found out that she & Luke got together finally, I'm hoping they'd stick it out
>>Rory's lovelife - I like Dean since he's Rory's first love but he's married!
>>Lane's band
>>Quirky Stars Hollow Characters - Taylor, Miss Patty, Kirk, Bebeth, Lane's mom...
>>Stars Hollow - if there was such a place, I wanna migrate there. Simple, cozy, smalltown feel where everyone knows one another and is in each others business all the time. Fun!

And I love the way the characters talk! Smart, witty, sarcastic, full of references to pop culture and historical icons over the past 100 or so years, brainfood at times. Its simply a show that makes you think and go hmmmmmm...oh thats right, I get it!

I know most people prefer watching shows that are more big on action or slapstick or special effects but I hope they'll learn how to appreciate shows like Gilmore Girls. Simple, intelligent and also funny.

Can't wait to continue on w/ my marathon... =)
