just saw the movie and just finished the book...
BIYOOTIPOOL!!!
since mako already spilled who lives, who dies and who ends up married with kids i'm just gonna dwell on all of the unanswered questions and other surprising turn of events since Potter began, i'm not going to reveal much so those who have yet to read this glorious book still have something to look forward to...
>petunia dursley has been jealous of lily potter all this time since she also wanted to get into hogwarts but couldn't since she was a non-magical muggle
>james & lily potter, sirius black and albus dumbledore stay dead...but they do return to explain things to harry
>dudley and kreacher both become nice to harry
>albus dumbledore has 2 siblings, a brother named aberforth, who appears in the book as a bartender of hog's head, he helps the D.A. and the Order of the Phoenix get into Hogwarts and a younger sister, who accidentally dies during a fight at the dumbledore's house
>the only things that could destroy voldemort's horcruxes is a basilisk's fang and godric gryffindors sword, which was apparently stolen from goblin swordmaker's
>voldemort's name was used as a tracer, anyone, most especially harry who mentions his name, would be traced by the death eaters upon saying the name aloud
>sirius wasn't the only black to turn good, R.A.B., the initials in the fake horcrux that dumbledore and harry got in book 6 stood for regulus arctus black, was sirius's brother, he died stealing the real horcrux and saving kreacher
>dumbledore had a will wherein he left the following items to harry, hermione & ron: to harry - the golden snitch he caught during his first game of quidditch and godric grffindor's sword, to hermione - a book of children's stories, to ron - dumbledore's diluminator, which use isn't just to turn off lights
>snape doesn't entirely despise harry (snape's still in love with lily potter)
>umbridge is back in all her frilly glory
>the malfoy's are frowned upon on by the death eaters community, they turn against voldemort at the end, actually its not so much as turning against voldemort but rather they couldn't care less what happens to voldemort or harry potter
>fine! i'll give you 2 more deaths of people who won't be missed....peter pettigrew and crabbe! good riddance though
>the term "BITCH" is used and by Molly Weasley while attacking Bellatrix Lestrange (uh...this is still a children's book right? does "bitch" mean something else in london?) anything else you need to know, just read the book or look for the wikipedia mako was talking about
as for the movie...
i still and always will prefer the movie version of Prisoner of Azkaban
yeah, yeah. i know i was supposed to review harry potter but i haven't seen it yet. i'll see it this friday...i think.
anyway, after hearing my officemates raving about transformers and after listening to them telling me, no wait...ordering me to go see the movie, i finally went ahead and saw it. and let me tell you...it was A-MA-HAY-ZING!!!
i liked watching transfomers as a kid. i remember watching it with my guy cousin. for some reason i remember that it came before or after rainbowbrite or was it care bears. the memory escapes me now. i wasn't really a diehard fanatic or anything but i stayed glued to the tv for the entire time transformers was on.
i don't remember the names of the autobots or the decepticons or the constructicons or even the humans on the show for that matter (never forgot their theme song though) but this movie made me want to kick myself for not remembering or paying too much attention to it then.
the movie was perfect! the robots transforming to their respective cars, trucks and plane counterparts was exactly how i imagined it would be if the transformers turned 3D (or is it 4D now).
the plot made sense. warring alien superspecies battling it out on earth (yet again) for ownership of the allspark (the cube). whoever finds the allspark wins. if the the autobots win, earth and humans will live. if the decepticons win, earth is doomed. for a more complete synopsis click here. i'll give you one guess about who ends up winning.:)
the human characters in the movie made sense. shia la beouf (sam witwicky) was unbelievable as the human lead of the film. me thinks even stevens was a good stepping stone for him. hehe. seriously, this guy is someone to watch out for. he was pretty good in constantine and disturbia. and props to megan fox (mikaela banes) and josh duhamel (captain lennox) as well.
the movie may have its flaws, especially to them true blue fans. like maybe why bumblebee went from being a volkswagen to a camaro (whatever bumblebee turns into, i love him!). and why spike witwicky turned into sam witwicky. and why hugo weaving is portraying megatrons voice instead of the original guy since optimus prime is still being portrayed by the original guy.
but who the hell cares?!
inconsistencies aside, the movie was just the perfect movie version of the cartoon.
whether you're a transformers fan or not, you will surely enjoy this one.
so for those who haven't seen it yet...what are you waiting for?! GO SEE THE MOVIE!
i really hope the sequels wouldn't be as commercialized as the spiderman and fantastic 4 sequels. the dancing?! yiiiiiiiii! for shame!!! you think they'd stop at making peter parker dance but nooooooo... they had to make mr. fantastic dance too! what the hell is the matter with you people?! stop it with the dancing!!!

Man would I love to be J.K. Rowling this month!
First the 5th Potter movie is released this week.
Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix
And from what I hear, it's everything a Potter fan could ever imagine and maybe even more. Mitch says you'd really want to murder Umbridge in this one. I'll be seeing the movie tomorrow so its very likely that this post would be updated again by tomorrow for my review of the flick. I hope I'll like this one coz I wasn't such a big fan of the 4th movie.
The book, in the meantime, the very final installment in the most infamous series of childrens (yeah right, more adults are reading this than the kids) books in the 21st century, is finally done and will be released next week.
Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows
Well, next Saturday to be exact. Can't wait! I'm really more excited about the book right now. I wanna know who ends up surviving ...Harry Potter or Voldemort.
Yep! That's right! Our favorite Season 5 A.I. non-winner is coming to Manila! It's all good for Elliott Yamin right now. Brand new album just came out, he's got great teeth, a beautiful model girlfriend, and his single "Wait For You" is number one practically everywhere. And now with the help of Elliott's MySpace Page , I give you his schedule of events when he comes to the Philippines. It's probably still subject to change but at least it's something to look forward to.

Storm Large of Rockstar: Supernova fame is indeed coming to the Philippines. No word yet if she'd be doing shows or where she'll be going for that matter. I saw this in one of the blog posts on Storm's MySpace Page and I quote..."my manager and I will be off to the Philippines for an Uno Magazine party." Just keep on checking out her MySpace for more details.
